I installed this update today, the installer asked for a restart but after that the BatteryBar disappeared.
I can see it under Toolbars by right clicking the taskbar, but can't select it.
I can do a fresh install but maybe Chris will do some troubelshooting?
Edit: As feroby says, i use Windows 7 64-bit also.

the same happened to me too today when i've performed the update. I also tried a reinstallation, a full unistall and a fresh installation, but as robinzon says, BatteryBar disappeared and I can't select it from the Toolbars menu in the taskbar.
I'm running under Windows 7 x64 with all the updates installed

It's possible that there was a problem registering the software. I assume that it continues to not work after rebooting? Does the BatteryBar item show up in the toolbar list after rebooting or not?
Are either of you running Soluto? There's a known issue with that software that blocks the toolbar from loading.

I have the same issue and this is with the newest installer as of 4/29/11. I'd really like to be able to use BatteryBar Pro again.
Uninstalling and reinstalling did not help. In fact I selected the option to remove profile and user data and after rebooting they were still there. I think having to reboot is a mistake, I'm not sure how dropbox does it but they have a really clean way to determining whether they need to reboot explorer.exe and dealing with multiple explorer.exe instances locking permissions. After reinstalling BatteryBar Pro would not show up till I killed a second instance of explorer.exe and the option came up in the right click toolbar but nothing happens when selected.

Yep, it fails to start too for me.., any fix or workaround yet?

I'm not even sure what the problem is. I've run the installer multiple times on my development machine and I haven't seen this problem.
Check the following registry key:
It should list the version number as 184.108.40.206.
You may also want to check C:\Program Files\BatteryBar and make sure that BatteryBar.dll and BatteryBar.Utilities.dll have the same Modified timestamp of 4/28/11 11:46pm (GMT -7).

It's not a mistake. In previous installers, I did use a method to restart explorer.exe rather than ask for a reboot. The problem is that for users with UAC enabled, that restarting explorer would restart it as Administrator and not the actual user, since the installer would run under elevated privileges. There is a way around that by running certain bits of the installer elevated and not others, but it would require a complete rewrite of the installer.
Asking for a reboot is a simple way of avoiding that issue. If you're a power user, you can manually kill explorer before running the installer, then restart it when you're done and it should load the new version of BatteryBar without a full restart. Logging off and back on again should work as well.

Thanks for helping us out.
I restarted my laptop several time, no luck. It's still in the toolbar list but i can't activate it. I download manually the the latest beta version and installed it over the existing one, it asked again for a reboot, but still no BatteryBar.
De version showing in the registry is indeed 220.127.116.11.
Both dll's are from 29-4-2011 7:46, this is in GMT+1.
And no, i don't use Soluto.
Any more ideas?

I, too have the same problem (installed the 3.5.2 update and now I can't use BatteryBar). The toolbar option exists, but when I click it, nothing happens.
I also find it funny that the whole "running explorer.exe as administrator" fix you implemented is now generating buzz. I appreciate the forced reboot rather than the issue I had before, though (starting programs off the taskbar that aren't meant to run as admin can get really hairy).
