I got the automatic update and installed it but it removed my quick launch bar from windows 7 and did not automatically restart.
having it modify an app other than battery bar is unacceptable

BatteryBar doesn't modify any other app.
Because BatteryBar is loaded by explorer, the program can only be replaced when explorer (the taskbar) isn't running. Previous installers required you to reboot the computer to finish the installation. That's a bit cumbersome, so I made an adjustment to the installer to just force explorer to restart during the upgrade. In my testing, there weren't any real side-effects to that, but I don't use the quick launch bar.
I'll run some more tests and see if I can repeat that issue.

even uninstalling it removes the quick launch toolbar.
way to buggy for my tastes

What do you mean by the Quick Launch Bar? Windows 7 has no such toolbar. I run Windows 7 on my development machine and there's no option to enable a Quick Launch Bar.
