RE: Battery drop at 95%
Unfortunately, the usually indicates that your battery wear is about to go up. In other words, your battery is no longer able to hold the same charge as it used to. The internal smart chip will recognize this and adjust your maximum available capacity down to the new level, which is currently around 95% such that what is now 95% will start showing as 100%. Your battery wear value will increase as well.
So, if you're current maximum capacity is 50,000 mWh, 95% battery would mean you have 47,500 mWh of capacity. So, your new MAXIMUM capacity will drop from 50,000 to 47,500 and the percentages will adjust accordingly. It's just the nature of chemical batteries. |

RE: Battery drop at 95%
Batteries in Sony SZ move a bit...
Ok, that's a long story, neverming.. Today i incidentally unplugged my laptop when charge was about 92 % completed, than plugged it again, and then unplugged it, there was may be 94 % .. Now for this reason i have 1.5 % battery wear ![]() My battery is only 1 month old, may be you know if i can fix it? I've heard all sorts of things, some say that i can recalibrate it by allowing it to complete discharge, to 0 %. Some say I can damage my battery if i do that, because it's Lion type, so, it's no-no to compete discharge. I'm confused by this contradictory statements... What should i do? Or is it now damaged?? |

RE: Battery drop at 95%
Most batteries lose about 30% of their battery life after one year. If you lost 1% after 1 month, that's well within the normal lost of battery life. There are things you can do to make sure your battery loses capacity slower. For example, don't discharge below 30%, and don't keep your battery fully charged at 100% for more than a day.

RE: Battery drop at 95%
Thanks!
But i'm sure that this wear is caused not for natural reasons, but by unplugging it too early, and then plugging it back without even discharging it... I check wear everyday, sometimes several times a day, and i'm absolutely sure there was no wear before this... 0%. So there is nothing i can do? ![]() Also, i remember seeing someone here, on this board, with battery almost year old, and very small wear... |

RE: Battery drop at 95%
All batteries will wear out, there's nothing you can do to stop or reverse it, but you can slow it down with some basic techniques like I described.
