Any way to delete excess profiles?
Hi, if i right-click on the BatteryBar(pro edition) there are about 25 profiles listed, most of them say "Miserware", which is the maker of the Granola program(supposed to extend battery life, didn't work)...i don't see any way to delete these...any help?
tia... btw, i have like 3 different batteries that go with this netbook so maybe that's part of the problem? i have uninstalled Granola quite a while ago... |

RE: Any way to delete excess profiles?
There are two things you can do:
1. You can just reset all the profile data and start the learning over from scratch. This is the easiest thing to do and it only takes 1 full discharge to relearn for each battery. Go to Preferences -> Tools -> Reset battery profile data 2. You'll need to manually edit the BatteryBar.Profiles.xml file to remove the extra entries. If you're not familiar with working with XML, it's quite easy to corrupt the file. To do this you'll need to close BatteryBar, then log off and back on again (so BatteryBar isn't running), then open %APPDATA%\BatteryBar and open BatteryBar.Profiles.xml in Notepad. Remove the <Profile ..>...</Profile> sections that you don't want. |

RE: Any way to delete excess profiles?
Chris, for some reason neither of those worked....i didn't know where %APPDATA% was but i think i got to the same folder thru documents + settings > username> etc etc...
the profiles folder is cleared but those Miserware entries are still there... i'll try uninstall-reinstall... |

RE: Any way to delete excess profiles?
You're saying that you went to Preferences -> Tools and clicked on "Reset battery profile data" and got an error message? That button is specifically programmed to clear all existing profile data. It should work just fine and you'll get a message box telling you the data was cleared.
For the second option, you cannot make changes to any of the xml files once BatteryBar has loaded. Even if you go to "Close Toolbar", the software is still actually running due to the way Windows loads external assemblies. As long as BatteryBar is running, it keeps the profile data in memory and writes that back to the xml file whenever data changes. It only reads the file on startup. You have to exactly follow the steps to turn off the toolbar, then LOG OFF and log back on. At that time the toolbar won't be loaded so you can make changes (including deleting the files) and then manually start the bar. |
