Same discharge rate regardless of PC settings
I recently installed battery bar on a new laptop I got. BatteryBar is showing the same rate of discharge regardless of the settings on my laptop. In other words, full screen brightness, CPU maxed, is same as if I dim the screen all the way and leave it idle.
I don't ever recall this happening in other laptops I've used with battery bar? Or is there a long "learning curve" before that discharge rate is read more accurately? Is it more on the laptop side or batterybar side? Could my laptop be borked? This occurs with both of the batteries that I got with my laptop. Thanks. |

RE: Same discharge rate regardless of PC settings
The line item in the status popup that says "Discharge Rate:" is entirely and exactly as reported by the smart chip on your battery. My guess is you may have a non-OEM battery. Luckily for you, BatteryBar doesn't use the rate value when estimating the time remaining. It actually times how long it takes to discharge and records that value. So, the time remaining value you see is a reflection of the average amount of time that your battery takes to discharge based on your past usage history. BatteryBar is also smart enough to detect when your battery is discharging faster or slower than your average rate, and adjusts the time remaining value accordingly.
Thus, as you use BatteryBar and it collects more data about your battery, the more accurate the estimate will become. |
