Incorrect numbers on eee pc
Started using this program on an Asus eee pc 900. Windows 7.
Something's wrong. I have two batteries, one is a 77 Wh (10400mAh) and one is a 4400 mAh battery. The big one says Capacity: 504 mWh of 840 mWh and Battery Wear: 98.1% of 43,680 mWh The small one says Capacity: 588 mWh of 840 mWh and Battery Wear: 98.1% of 43,680 mWh The first number on the 'Capacity' line does change with the state of charge each respective battery is in. But the overall Capacity (840 mWh) seems really low for either battery, and doesn't change when I change batteries. Is there some way to get battery bar to 're-evaluate' the capacity and state of Battery Weark when changing batteries? |

RE: Incorrect numbers on eee pc
The values are as reported by the battery. If you'd like, you can generate a debug log for me that will tell me the exact details of what's going on. I have found that most netbooks provided very limited, if not incorrect, battery data. They seem to only report a correct percentage remaining (current capacity / full capacity).
To generate the log: 1. Hold down the SHIFT key then right-click on BatteryBar 2. Click "Enable Debug Logging" 3. Plug in to the A/C adapter 4. Change batteries 5. Run without A/C for at least 2 percentage points of battery life 6. Repeat 3-6 for the second battery 7. When finished, repeats steps 1-2 8. Fill out the feedback form with your name, email, and comments and click Submit. |

RE: Incorrect numbers on eee pc
Chris,
Question about step #5. 'at least 2 percentage points of battery life' My batteries typically start at 100% then drop to 90% then 80% then 70% then 60% and so on. When you say '2 percentage points' do you mean for example from 90% to 88% or from 90% to 70%? I get several hours of use on a full charge when running on battery, but don't know how to determine the difference of 90% to 88% since those numbers aren't indicated by battery bar or the windows power meter. Thanks. (12-01-2009 01:30 PM)Chris Wrote: The values are as reported by the battery. If you'd like, you can generate a debug log for me that will tell me the exact details of what's going on. (12-02-2009 12:11 AM)Izord Wrote: Question about step #5. 'at least 2 percentage points of battery life' I have seen that before. An easy way to do it is to turn on logging and then just use your computer as normal for a while and turn off logging when your done, as long as the battery remaining value has changed at least twice, unless you're starting from A/C power at 100% battery, then just once should be okay. The reason it needs to change twice is that BatteryBar doesn't start timing the percentage until the percentage remaining changes to make sure it doesn't skew results by saying that 90% to 80% only lasts 5 minutes because you happened to turn on your computer with just over 80% remaining (while the battery reports 90%). |
