Batterybar Pro doesn't work with Windows 8.
Hey,

I was just wondering why Batterybar doesn't work with windows 8. When I install it, it can't detect the battery. However it does under windows 7. Any help would be much appreciated.

RE: Batterybar Pro doesn't work with Windows 8.
Windows 8 is only a developer release and is completely unsupported. When the beta arrives, I plan on installing it and working on making BatteryBar compatible at that time.

Will this issue be taken care of now that the Consumer Preview has been released?

RE: Batterybar Pro doesn't work with Windows 8.
I have tested BatteryBar with Windows 8 consumer preview and it functions perfectly in Desktop mode. There is not currently a Metro version of the application, but that is on my todo list. I will post here when there's an pre-release version available for testing.

Recently a Release Preview was released to wider public. This version is the last milestone prior to releasing the RTM/final version.
BatteryBar still doesn't properly work. It installs, runs, but there's no access to options (gives an error and submitting reports function doesn't work), meaning it's impossible to change the themes, settings or enter a license code. Plus, some other less disturbing things are there: like having 2 copies of BatteryBar load. I tested it on a x64 version of the Release Preview.
Any plans to add Windows 8 support by any chance? Because it really IS coming pretty soon.

I can confirm this behavior in Windows 8 RP, for both 32-bit and 64-bit installations.

See the end of this message for details on invoking
just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

<configuration>
<system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

This is the error when I try to right click on taskbar icon. Maybe it could help. Win8 RP x64 build 8400 with media center options.
Thank You Chris for Your program Smile

Chris, now that the RTM is out, can you please help with a fix for Windows 8? BB is a great program and I would hate to stop using it. I am unable to send the error report as the feedback screen also freezes.

Windows 8 is now out on Technet and Dreamspark Premium. The program still doesn't work on Windows 8 Professional. Clicking on BatteryBar in the toolbar doesn't do anything, and the option remains in the toolbar even after uninstalling (anyone know how to remove it?).

RE: Batterybar Pro doesn't work with Windows 8.
BatteryBar Pro does not work Windows 8 RTM. It installs and shows the bar however if
you Right Click on it there is an error and the Setting Pages does not show. After a reboot
the icon no longer shows on the taskbar nor will it show. If you uninstall it there is
still information left in the Registry and the Taskbar - Toolbar will still offer it though
uninstalled.
