Hi,
I like the concept, but BB does not work on my old Dell Latitude C610. It reports stupidly low battery lifetime (% now seems to be ok, but time calculation is obviously wrong) and was even causing shutdown when there wa plenty of battery left. I thought the new chinese battery I'd bought was a dud, but no it's fine. After fully charging, BB will report a figure of around 30 mins total battery life, while the laptop will run for at least 3 hrs if you keep restarting it after it has shutdown due to thinking it is out of juice. I have tried to uninstall BB but that too does not work. It has now disappeared from my add/remove software thingy in Control panel, but still boots up with bb running. CC Cleaner no longer recognises that it is installed, it will not allow me to delete the whole damn BB directory, nor can I find a service to end in task manager either... How do I manually get rid of it? TIA Steve |

RE: Removing BB
I'd be interested in seeing your BatteryBar.Profiles.xml file to see why the estimate is so low. BatteryBar is designed to calculate time remaining based on actual usage and keeps that data. Does the percentage remaining of your battery change by at least 1% at a time, or do you see big jumps, like from 90% to 80%?
As far as uninstalling, you need to reboot after running the uninstaller to for it to finish. BatteryBar isn't a stand-alone application, it's a toolbar that gets loaded by "explorer.exe", which is the program that runs the taskbar and desktop. To remove it, you'll need to turn off the toolbar (right-click, select "toolbars", and uncheck batteryBar). Then log-off and back on again. Make sure that the toolbar isn't running and then delete the C:\Program Files\BatteryBar folder. P.S. BatteryBar does not initiate a system shutdown, hibernate, or sleep. That is done by Windows and can be configured in the Control Panel under Power Options. |

RE: Removing BB
Hi Chris,
Thanks for the reply. I searched for the .xml file you mentioned but did not find it, where would it normally reside? It is not under the BB install directory. The BB estimate is really weird, I let the battery completely drain last night, and now the estimate has jumped to 1:11 or so. When I first installed BB it started high then worked its way down to around the 30min mark, even though the discharge rate and % left pointed to significantly more lifetime. The normal windoze estimate was reasonably close to correct, and had the same % level as BB reported , just BB's time estimate was way off. BB % was in small increments as it should have been. I followed your instructions and it is now gone. Begs the question why "uninstall" does not get rid of it?? Looked like a good concept, even if it didn't work properly in my case. I'll try it again later and see if the results differ. Cheers Steve |

RE: Removing BB
Your profile data is probably still there. It's saved in your APPDATA folder. To find it, open up My Computer and type in "%APPDATA%". You should see a "BatteryBar" folder and inside that is the BatteryBar.Profiles.xml file.
