Lenovo X1 - Total mWh incorrect
Hi,
I recently got an Lenovo Thinkpad X1 and transferred my BatteryBar Pro license over from my old laptop to it. However... BatteryBar reports 57,602 mWh design capacity and 54,538 mWh full capacity, but the actual figures should be ~38,920 mWh and ~36,850 mWh respectively. Lenovo's Power Manager reports these figures correctly: Additionally, randomly, BatteryBar MAY correct itself to show the correct figures - I can't pin down exactly what causes this to happen. I thought maybe low or critical battery statuses might correct it (as it seemed to do sometimes) but today BatteryBar has been showing me the wrong numbers all day! The other readings seem to look okay - the discharge rate usually hovers between 7 and 12W in normal use which sounds about right, and the 5.3% battery wear figure looks to be the same as the one from Lenovo's tool. Any suggestions? |

RE: Lenovo X1 - Total mWh incorrect
BatteryBar uses the standard Windows API to query the battery state. The values displayed are those provided through the ACPI battery driver in Windows. It's possible that Lenovo has a customize BIOS that allows them to track data in a different way than the Windows API.
You can try turning on battery logging (Preferences -> Tools) and have the data logged to a file so you can check when it starts reporting the correct values. Regardless, BatteryBar doesn't use those values in it's calculation of the time remaining. Time remaining is based on historic data of how fast the battery discharges (1% at a time). So even though the values shown may be incorrect, the time remaining should still be consistent with real world usage. |
