battery wear keeps fluctuating
Hi,

Firstly I really like battery bar, I think it incredible if it was somehow fully incorporated into the windows OS.

I use the battery bar on 2 laptops.

On one laptop top the battery wear remains consistent, while on the other the percentage fluctuates between 5.5% - 13%.

As I type this it the number is 6.5%.

This battery was manufactured in 2010 and I have been using it since I purchased in early 2011.

I have done a few discharges over the past few weeks in an attempt to get the correct stat to show up.

I've also deleted the profiles hoping the number to reset to it's proper value.

Am I missing something?

Thanks in advance.

RE: battery wear keeps fluctuating
The battery wear is actually a value that's reported by the battery itself. The battery wear is calculated by taking the batteries reported "Maximum Capacity" (in mWh) and the batteries "Design Capacity" (the original maximum that the battery was designed for). The difference between them is the wear.

What's likely happening is that your maximum capacity value keeps fluctuating. You can actually monitor this by looking at the status popup "Capacity: xx,xxx mWh of xx,xxx mWh". The "of ..." part is the current maximum capacity.

There's nothing I can do about that as it is the value as reported by the battery and the software doesn't do anything expect divide those two numbers and show you the value.
